Charleston community leader and former president of Maverick Southern Kitchens Richard “Dick” Elliott has been elected chairman of the SCGSAH Board of Directors. A long-time advocate for the school, Elliott served on the school’s foundation board prior to his appointment by Governor Nikki Haley to the school’s Board of Directors. Elliott replaces Greenville businessman Robert “Bob” Hughes, Jr. whose leadership spanned more than a decade.
SCSGAH's Class of 2015, with support from the Governor's School for the Arts Foundation, set the record for the largest senior class gift ever donated by a graduating class with the establishment of a $100,000 endowed scholarship honoring retiring President Bruce Halverson. The Dr. Bruce Halverson Endowed Scholarship Fund will serve to provide financial assistance to emerging artists accepted to the residential high school program at SCGSAH.
