10/14/16 - SCGSAH Foundation announces partnership with Drayton Mills

The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts Foundation (GSA Foundation) has partnered with Drayton Mills to offer arts programming, instruction and outreach activities to the greater Spartanburg area.

"As an arts education resource to the teachers and students of South Carolina, the Governor's School is always seeking opportunities to reach more communities in various ways," said Tim McClain, executive director of the GSA Foundation. "Our partnership with Drayton Mills will allow us to use their beautiful venue to hold performances, classes, visual art displays and much more for the local community to enjoy."

Drayton Mills will host an introduction to the Governor's School on November 3 with performances by the Music Department's string quartet and a Visual Arts Department exhibition. Future public events will be announced in 2017.

"We are so thrilled and honored to be partnering with the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts Foundation," said Tara Sherbert, owner and developer of Drayton Mills. "We believe that the arts bring communities together. Celebrating and encouraging the love of the arts has been one of our primary missions here at Drayton Mills. This amazing school was named one of "America's Most Challenging High Schools" by The Washington Post, with graduating seniors in 2016 receiving over $28 million in scholarship offers. We very much look forward to having the incredible talent of these teachers and students here at Drayton Mills."
