Non-Certified Teacher (Voice-Coach and Accompanist)

The South Carolina Governorís School for the Arts and Humanities seeks a qualified voice instructor for a position in the music department, effective for the 2018-2019 academic school year.  The voice coach will provide instruction in song/aria preparation, including expertise in English and foreign language diction (Italian, French, German; other languages a plus) and in musical styles.  The instructor will accompany student singers in coaching, classes and performances (Student Recitals; Senior Recitals; Diction Recitals; Opera and Musical Theater Scenes Concerts) and assist students with recordings for college applications and for school-sponsored events like NATS and/or YoungArts.  The duties may include teaching Music Theory, Music History, Class Piano or other classes as related to expertise.  The ideal candidate will have substantial performance experience as a vocal coach and as an accompanist.  Applicants should possess skills necessary for teaching exceptionally talented high school students, and be interested in actively recruiting students for the program.  A masterís degree is required with at least 5 years of teaching experience in the appropriate arts discipline at the secondary and/or post-secondary level and/or professional experience.  Candidates will be expected to maintain a performance career and work well in a fast-paced, pre-collegiate setting dedicated to providing the best arts education to South Carolinaís talented youth.

Summer Programs Residential Life Coordinator

The South Carolina Governorís School for the Arts and Humanities, located in Greenville, South Carolina, is seeking residential life coordinators for summer programs. These staff members are valuable members of the student services team, providing direct oversight and direction for students during their out-of-classroom summer experience.

The Governorís School is a public residential high school and summer program serving students in creative writing, dance, drama, music, and visual arts. The Governorís School holds three distinct student summer programs: Academy (rising 10th grade students), Discovery (rising 9th grade students), and Summer Dance (rising 7th through 12th grade students). Position Dates: Monday, June 11, 2018 through Saturday, July 21, 2018. While students are in session, work is primarily during evenings and weekends.

Pay: $440 per week for six weeks, including room for the duration of employment and board while students are in session.

Location: The 2018 SCGSAH summer programs will be held on the schoolís Greenville, South Carolina campus.


  • Provide direction and oversight to students enrolled in the Governorís Schoolís summer programs.
  • Enforce discipline and safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with faculty, staff, and parents regarding student issues or needs.
  • Serve as mentor and role model.

Required Experience: A minimum of one full year of college, university, or conservatory is required. A valid driverís license is required.

Preferred Experience: Experience with students in a camp or residential environment is preferred. Preference may be given to applicants who are 21 years of age or older and with additional educational or work experience.
