George Singleton's Stray Decorum as a finalist for the 2013 SIBA Book Awards.

April 22, 2013 - Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA) selects George Singleton's Stray Decorum as a finalist for the 2013 SIBA Book Awards. 

Members of SIBA have selected twenty-five books on the list, representing booksellers' favorite hand sells of the year in fiction, nonfiction, children's, young adult, poetry and cooking. Singleton's book "Stray Decorum" is one of six finalists for the fiction category. 

Singleton is the author of five collections of stories: (These People Are Us, The Half-Mammals of Dixie, Why Dogs Chase Cars, Drowning in Gruel, Stray Decorum), two novels (Novel, Work Shirts for Madmen), and a book of writing advice (Pep Talks, Warnings, and Screeds). Heís published stories in magazines and journals such as the Atlantic Monthly, Harperís, Playboy, Georgia Review, Glimmer Train, Zoetrope, and Kenyon Review. His stories have been anthologized in twelve editions of New Stories from the South, and in Grit Lit: A Rough South Reader, Still in Print, Best American Food Writing, Behind the Short Story: From First to Final Draft, and so on. In 2009, he received a Guggenheim fellowship. In 2011, he received the Hillsdale Award for Fiction from the Fellowship of Southern Writers.
