Hurricane Irma Preparedness

ANNOUNCEMENT - Sunday, September 10, 2017:
The Governor's School continues to monitor the potential impact of Hurricane Irma on our community.  We continue to plan a regular school day for Monday, September 11.

We have noted that Greenville County Schools will be closed due to concerns with bus and high profile vehicle transportation.  Off-campus activities for Monday, including downtown sign-out will be canceled.

Should conditions warrant, further updates will be provided.  Please contact Student Life at 864.282.3711 or with any questions or concerns.  We are thinking of all members of our community during this time.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Friday, September 8, 2017:
The Governorís School is closely monitoring the potential landfall of Hurricane Irma in South Carolina.  We recognize the impact that this has throughout our school community.  We anticipate continuing school operations as regularly scheduled.  In the event of a power failure, the residence hall and dining hall are fully equipped with generators to sustain campus living.  Academic spaces are also provided with generator lighting to support continued class work.  In the event of severe weather in the Greenville area, off-campus activities and events may be canceled or rescheduled.  Should weather conditions dictate a change in employee work schedules, the school will implement its inclement weather/emergency policy.

Further announcements will be distributed via the schoolís mass notification system, e-mail, and social media channels.

If you have any questions, please contact Student Life at or 864.282.3711.
