Dance student to be honored for community service

Senior Mahalia Mays of Greenville to receive Salvation Army award
GREENVILLE, SC - Senior Dance student Mahalia Mays is one of seven Greenville County residents who will be honored for community service at the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Embassy Suites.
Mahalia will receive the award for the Young Inspiration of the Year.
All recipients are being honored for volunteerism, teaching, athletics, the arts, coaching or mentoring.
Mahalia is in the company of the Superintendent of Greenville County schools, the founder of an organization aimed at combating poverty among women and children globally, a high school coach, a former member of the state Legislature and others who will be honored at the event.
