Governor's School to host 2009 Open Doors event on October 10

More than 250 visitors from throughout South Carolina are expected to attend
GREENVILLE, SC - The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities will welcome more than 250 visitors to its campus during the 2009 Open Doors event to be held on Saturday, October 10.
Beginning at 9:30 am at the school's 15 University Street location, visitors will have an opportunity to speak with arts faculty, student services staff, administrators and others to learn more about the Residential High School and Summer Programs for emerging artists. The event will end at 12:30 pm.
The Office of Enrollment and Outreach will waive the application processing fees of $50 for Residential and $25 for Summer applicants who attend.
Open Doors is free of charge and the public is invited. Pre-registration is encouraged; contact the Office of Enrollment and Outreach at 864.282.3713 or admissions@scgsah.state.sc.us.
During the 10 am art area sessions, visitors will learn valuable information about the pre-professional Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Music and Visual Arts programs. Scheduled tours will acquaint guests with the campus. Student rooms in the residence hall will also be available for viewing.
General information sessions tailored to the Residential High School and Summer Programs will complete the day. School leaders, enrollment staff, academic and arts faculty and others will be available to respond to questions.
"The South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities is a public residential high school, which provides a unique opportunity for South Carolina's emerging artists," Admissions Director Anna King said. "Attending Open Doors helps students and their families better understand the unique benefits and experiences provided here."
