SOUTH CAROLINA - May 12, 2011 - Four students from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities (SCGSAH) are national qualifiers in the National History Day (NHD) competition.
Isaac Young, Glennetta Burrell, Anne Kunkle and Daniel Maltz were chosen as finalists during the state competition held in Columbia, SC on April 30, 2011. Libby Davis was selected as an alternate. These students will represent South Carolina at the national competition for NHD held at the University of Maryland at College Park on June 12-16.
The students were directed by SCGSAH history teacher Rusty Godfrey to create and prepare their projects. According to Godfrey, students conducted thorough historical research on their selected topics and showed enormous creativity in designing their projects. National History Day is an excellent educational experience which Godfrey incorporates into his classes each year.
