South Carolina Governor's School music student Kedrick Armstrong accepted to Brevard Music Center
SOUTH CAROLINA - May 5, 2011- South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities (SCGSAH) music student Kedrick Armstrong has been accepted to the Brevard Music Center, and has received a scholarship to study with the High School Orchestra Studies program.
The Brevard Music Center offers a High School Orchestra program from June 24 - August 7, 2011. During this program, Armstrong will be studying clarinet with Steve Cohen, Professor of Clarinet at Northwestern University.
"I was really excited when I got accepted into the Brevard program," says Kedrick Armstrong, SCGSAH music student. "I'm really looking forward to having the summer of my life."
All students in the Orchestra Studies program rehearse daily and perform extensively in various ensembles. In addition, the students receive private lessons, participate in master classes and perform in solo and chamber concerts.
Like other students in the High School Division of the Orchestra Studies Program, Kedrick will perform in the Transylvania Symphony Orchestra under BMC's principal conductor, Keith Lockhart and distinguished visiting conductors. All students also take classes in music theory and music literature.
Armstrong is a native of Georgetown, SC and previously attended Georgetown High School.
