Drama alumna Danielle Brooks (Drama, 2007) received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. She is currently making her Broadway debut in the revival of The Color Purple as the character Sofia.

On Saturday, April 23, students from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities attended the National History Day State Contest held at Westwood High School in Blythewood, SC. Nineteen students competed in seventeen projects and seven placed in their respective categories.
Students from the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities (SCGSAH) Creative Writing and Visual Art departments had outstanding showings at the 2016 Southeast Region-at-Large Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, earning multiple awards in each of the competition’s three levels of recognition: Gold Key, Silver Key, Honorable Mention.
