Joyce Fankhauser
Harp Instructor
Joyce Fankhauser started playing the harp when she was ten, practicing on a borrowed Irish harp. She received her musical training at the University of Washington and the Cleveland Institute of Music. Joyce has been the principal harpist with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra and the Greenville Symphony, as well as the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional of Costa Rica as a Peace Corps assignment.
Her solo appearances keep her busy. She has been a featured artist with the Muse Machine in Spartanburg, and she performs often for Music Sandwiched In at the Spartanburg Library. Joyce has given recitals for the Greenville County Museum of Art, North Greenville University, and the Winter Classics series in Greenville, as well as the Chamber Pot series in Columbia and the Langford Concert series in Newberry. She has been a soloist with the Greenville Chorale, the Laurens County Chorale and the Greenwood Festival Chorale.
Joyce enjoys providing dinner music for special events and plays for several weddings each year. She teaches at Converse College and at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities.
