Tom Dickinson received his Master of Music degree in 2000 from the Yale University School of Music where he was a student of Richard Cross. He also holds an Artist Diploma and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. While at Oberlin as a student of Richard Miller he served on the staff of OBSVAC, a cutting edge vocal arts lab that utilizes technology to illuminate the art of singing. In 1998 he was awarded the first Ruth Cogan scholarship for excellent service to the Lab. Mr. Dickinson served as an Associate Instructor of Voice at Indiana University for one year while studying with Giorgio Tozzi. His Studies have also taken him to Europe where he studied at the Salzburg Summer Festival. Mr. Dickinson most recently spent two years in residence with the Seattle Opera Young Artist Program where he performed the roles of Don Magnifico in La Cenerentola, Masetto and Commendatore in Don Giovanni and in concerts throughout the northwest. Other roles include Pistola in Falstaff, Schaunard in La Boheme, Collatinus in Rape of Lucretia, Escamillo in Carmen and Melchoir in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Mr. Dickinson's career had taken him across the United States including appearances with Opera Theatre of St. Louis, Glimmerglass Opera, Hartford Symphony, Yakima Symphony, The Norwalk Symphony and as an apprentice with the Santa Fe Opera. He has performed locally with the GAMAC chorale and is a member of the Greenville Chorale Chamber Ensemble. Mr. Dickinson has twice been a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Council Auditions.
