Dr. Mike Farmer

Physics, Astronomy & Chemistry Faculty

Dr. Farmer has 30 years teaching experience in secondary and post secondary institutions in science education. He has served as President of the South Carolina Academy of Science, The Greenville County Science Teachers Association, and the South Carolina Science Council. A few of the outstanding honors he has received include: The Discover Magazine Science Teacher of the year (1984); NASA Teacher in Space finalist (1985); the Order of the Palmetto from Former Governor Dick Riley (1985); Presidential Award in Science Teaching (1986); South Carolina Governor's Award for Science Awareness (1999); and the Vernier Award for the utilization of computers in teaching science to art students (2003). Dr. Farmer's hobbies include tennis, backpacking, chess and gardening.
