“What a tremendous honor and privilege it is to work for an institution that had its genesis in one woman's singular passion and revolutionary vision. This school is living proof of how an individual can make a profound difference for good in the world - if she has the courage, persistence, and strength to pursue her vision. And what a vision - a public, two-year residential high school dedicated to teaching and training young artists from across South Carolina and staffed by working, professional artists - how revolutionary is that! I wish there was a school like ours in every state of the union.”

“My favorite thing about our campus environment is its serious atmosphere of authentic artistic and intellectual inquiry and exploration. What happens here seems to me to be the essence of education - the pursuit of Socrates' dictum: ‘Know thyself.’ Our students are taught to think deeply, critically and honestly, to work creatively and collaboratively, to value the hard work and discipline of craft, and to become open-minded and compassionate citizens of the world. The atmosphere here is inspiring, to say the least.”
