Caroline Ulrich
Flute Instructor
Dr. Caroline J. Ulrich has been flute instructor at the South Carolina Governor's School for Arts and Humanities since 2001. Previous teaching appointments include positions at Clemson University, Luther College, Mars Hill, and Western Carolina University. Caroline is currently principal flute with the GSO and 2nd flute with The Spartanburg Philharmonic. She has frequently been featured soloist with the GSO and others performing works by Mozart, Bach, Chaminade, Godard, Gluck, and most recently, Lukas Foss. She has also performed numerous solo and small ensemble recitals both as a part of the GSO Spotlight Series and at other venues. She has also held positions with Springfield (IL) Symphony, Asheville Symphony, and Augusta Opera, and has been a sub throughout the southeast and midwest.
Both the Doctor and Master of Music degrees were earned from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, and her Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University. Her teachers have included Charles DeLaney, Alexander Murray, Felix Skowronek, and Carl Hall. She has performed in master classes given by Kyril Magg, William Bennet, and Paula Robison.
