Just as the school's arts programs maintain the highest instructional standards, academic programs provide educational excellence to prepare students for collegiate and career successes. Students fulfill their South Carolina high school requirements with teachers who are focused on providing innovative approaches to traditional subjects.

College Preparatory, Honors and Advanced Placement courses are available. Courses leading to Advanced Placement exams are offered in English, Literature, English Composition, U.S. History, European History, Calculus AB, Statistics, Physics B, Chemistry, Biology, Music Theory, Art History and General Art Portfolio. Whatever the course level, Governor's School classes are challenging, engaging and interactive.
