Alumni Award Call for Nominations
Dear members of the SCGSAH community:
The GSA Foundation is busy planning for our annual Leadership Tribute when we will recognize individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary dedication to the future of the arts in South Carolina through their support of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. This year we honor Richard Heusel, Erwin Maddrey and Irv Welling – three key players whose significant efforts have been instrumental in the life of the residential Governor’s School since its beginnings. Because of these individuals, the young emerging artists of South Carolina are assured state-of-the-art facilities and boundless opportunities to nurture and further their artistic talents.
At last year’s Leadership Tribute, and as a part of the school’s celebration of its 10th Anniversary, we added a new element to our signature event with the “Alumni Recognition Award.” With this inaugural award, we were pleased to honor Caleb Jones, a 2003 music graduate of the school. The criteria for recipient selection were drafted and established by a committee of faculty and staff members at the school, and in continuing the tradition of this special award, we request a call for nominations again this year.
The GSA Foundation is collecting all submitted nominations, and we respectfully request that all nominations be submitted by FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4. This will provide sufficient time for the Award Selection Committee to meet, as well as allow time to contact the recipient and gather all pertinent information for press releases announcing the Leadership Tribute 2011 honorees.
Once you review the criteria, please email your nominations to elizabeth.mcmillian@gsafoundation.net (please note the extra “i” in McMillian). Thank you in advance for your support and input, and we hope to see you at the Leadership Tribute on April 14.
Best regards,
Elizabeth
