Share your Love

Share Your Love!

Alumni,

We love you.  We love your passion, your dedication to the arts, and your support of one another. It’s what makes a Govie, a Govie.  So let’s spread the love together all month long! Each week in February, we’ll announce different ways for you to share your love with the SCGSAH community. There will be opportunities to share fond memories, tell your story and advocate for SCGSAH. So stay tuned, and if you’re not already following us on social media, now’s the time to connect!

With Love,

SCGSAH

Week 1:  Share your photos!
Remember what it was like to be a SCGSAH student?  Please share your favorite pictures of you and your friends during your time here on campus.  If you are the first person to submit a picture of yourself with Dr. Virginia Uldrick you will receive a free alumni t-shirt!  Upload your photos here.

Week 2:  Advocacy
We hope that you were able to participate in this week’s Arts Advocacy Day in Columbia! Organizations from across the state, including the Governor's School, the S.C. Arts Commission, the S.C. Arts Alliance, and many other arts advocates came together at the S.C. State House in Columbia to remind legislators about the importance of funding arts programs that impact our schools, communities, economy and our overall quality of life.

As you continue your love affair with the arts, we encourage you to be an arts advocate.  Take the time to thank Governor Henry McMaster as well as your state senator and representative for their continued support of arts programs in South Carolina.  (Find your legislators at http://www.scstatehouse.gov/legislatorssearch.php.)  Also, please encourage them to attend the Governor’s School for the Arts Foundation’s legislative event on March 1 at the Palmetto Club in Columbia.  This will be a great opportunity for state leaders not familiar with SCGSAH to learn what an amazing place this is!

Week 3:  Giving
SCGSAH is life changing, you’ve said it yourself!  What better way to show your support than by giving back?  Give small, give big.  With such a creative, diverse group of alumni, new ideas for giving back are always developing; share them with us!

·Give Your Time:  We have alumni in cities all over the nation, and we always need new members and new ideas.  Exercise your leadership skills by joining the Alumni Advisory Council or becoming aClass Agent. This is a great way to stay connected and give back.  Support current Govies by attending on campus performances and events. The summer reunion and regional events are also great ways to reconnect with fellow Govie alumni.

·Give Your Treasure: Make a gift to support student scholarships, audition expenses, and the visiting guest artists program.  Paying it forward will provide opportunities for all of the Govies who will come behind you! Everything donated directly helps fund artists, activities and students!   Sign up to give a recurring monthly gift or for a one time donation by clicking here, https://gsafoundation.giv.sh/bbcd

·Give Your Voice: We want to know what you’re up to in life, because we want to see how SCGSAH influenced who you are.  Keep your contact information updated with the alumni office so we can help spread the word about your success. Be sure to tell us if you received a huge promotion, are featured in a podcast, or are involved with a cause others might want to support.

Want to do more?  Challenge three of your fellow alums to give back with you—spur each other on in support of SCGSAH!

Week 4:  Share your Story
Thanks to all of you that have participated in the Share Your Love campaign this month! As we wrap up this last week of February, we ask that you share your Govie story.

For example…What brought you to SCGSAH? What did you learn about yourself during your time on campus? Was there a faculty/staff member that had a meaningful impact on you? What impact did your arts education have on your life?

Please submit your story at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7Q9RPVZ
Excerpts from submissions may be shared in an upcoming alumni newsletter.
