Five SCGSAH students recognized at singing competition

Five vocal students from the South Carolina Governorís School for the Arts & Humanities (SCGSAH) were recognized at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competition last weekend at Winthrop University. They competed in various Musical Theatre categories.

The students recognized for their performances were:

Upper High School Men:

  • Tyrese Byrd, Regional Finalist and Honors Recital Recipient
    (given to the student with the highest score in their category)
  • Kevin Arnold, Regional Finalist

Upper High School Women, Section A:

  • Indianna Watford, Regional Finalist and Honors Recital Recipient

Upper High School Women, Section B:

  • Jasmine Holland, Regional Finalist and Honors Recital Recipient
  • Ellen Chamblee, Regional Finalist


Tyrese Byrd, Kevin Arnold, and Indianna Watford are students of Thomas Dickinson. Jasmine Holland and Ellen Chamblee are students of Candace Dickinson.

All five students advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regional competition this coming March in Charleston, SC.
