2023 Upstate ED Dance Audition Information
Upstate Early Decision Dance auditions for registered applicants will be held in Greenville on Saturday, November 4, 2023 on the SCGSAH Campus. Please be sure to view the Dance Audition Details below, as well as the Upstate Location Information for directions & parking. For arrival times, please see the Audition Schedule below.

8:00 - 8:30 am: Registration
8:30 - 10:00 am: Ballet Class (Ballet and Modern Track combined)
10:05 - 11:05 am: Modern Class (Ballet and Modern Track combined)
11:05 - 11:20 am: Improvisation/Modern Session
11:25 am - 1:00 pm: Solos & Interviews*
*The interview portion of the day may end sooner depending on the final roster for this location.
- Dance Audition Details
Audition Preparation
Dancers will participate in a ballet class, modern class, perform a prepared solo (Residential High School candidates only), and attend an interview (individual for RHS applicants; small groups for summer applicants). Be sure to review the audition requirements for the Residential High School or Summer Program.Dance Attire for Auditions
Females: black leotards, convertible pink or skin-colored tights, and ballet shoes. For the modern class, applicants must be barefoot (rolled up convertible tights).
Males: black t-shirts, dance belts, black convertible tights with black shoes or with white socks and white shoes. For the modern class, applicants must be barefoot (rolled up convertible tights).Music for Auditions
Please arrive early to best prepare for your audition. If you are applying to the Residential High School, you must bring a recording of the music for your solo. The recording can be in CD format, on an iPhone, or other digital formats.Audition Day

On audition day, enter through the front of the venue. Appropriate signage will direct you to check-in.
Check-in and registration will begin 30-minutes prior to the audition time. You must check-in to receive your specific audition number.- Upstate Location Information

Parking will be available either on the SCGSAH campus or in the County

A self-guided tour will be available from 1:00-2:30 p.m. during Go Govie!
Day, our annual open house. You will meet members of our campus
community at various spots along the way during your tour, including
faculty, staff, and students.
Information sessions about the school, academics and the dance program

If an emergency arises and you cannot attend your audition, contact

applydance@scgsah.org. Indicate the student’s name and the type of
emergency in your message. She will get back with you the next business
day.
