Jerry Friedman believed in the transformative power of the arts and the importance of fostering young talent. He was intentional about introducing young people to potential, which often only he saw in them. I knew this first-hand; he was my father.

As the first anniversary of his passing approaches, won’t you consider joining me to honor his memory and breathe creative life into the lives of students, that would live on for years to come by contributing to the Gerald L. Friedman Memorial Endowment Fund.

These funds will be given to music students pursuing a theater and/or performing arts path; ensuring they have financial assistance and access to essential resources and opportunities to achieve their dreams.

Because of the impact he had on my life, I now have the privilege to serve on the Board of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities Foundation. This tuition-free public residential high school serves artistically talented students from every socioeconomic background and geographic region of the state, providing world-class training through programs of pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence.

Donations, no matter the size, will make a significant impact and are deeply appreciated. Students are only required to pay $3,900 each year for room/board. Compared to private music schools, even a small donation can change a life. My goal is to fulfill the dreams of several students every year.  I can think of no better way to keep my Dad’s legacy alive while making a concrete difference in the lives of artistically talented high school students who otherwise could not afford to attend – precisely the young people my father sought to support.

Donations can be made below or by mail to The SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities Foundation (Memo line: GLF Memorial Endowment Fund) P.O. Box 8458 Greenville, SC 29604. You will be updated about the impact your contribution makes in the lives of those you encourage.
