LOCATION:  South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, SC

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree in the appropriate academic discipline and at least 3 years teaching experience at the secondary and/or post-secondary level. Must possess or have the qualifications to obtain South Carolina Teacher Certification.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree with at least 5 years teaching experience in the appropriate academic discipline at the secondary and/or post-secondary level. Possess National Board Certification.       

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:  Faculty Position-Science (Biology I, Chemistry I, AP Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science and/or Astronomy) Under the supervision of the Department Chair, the Science teacher will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities to identify and teach South Carolina’s artistically talented high school students through programs or pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence.  Faculty will also advance the school’s mission by service as a resource for all teachers and students in South Carolina. Develops and instructs a curriculum in accordance with state and national standards, utilizing the South Carolina Curriculum Standards and the school’s curriculum adopted by the Board of Directors.  Organizes and implements an instructional program that supports student success in accordance with the Mission and core beliefs of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, including development of appropriate differentiated instruction strategies and other mechanisms to meet the needs of the school’s diverse student population.  Develops in writing and in consultation with the Department Chair/Administrator, an annual goal in a three year cycle as part of an ongoing performance evaluation program.  One goal should be set in each of these areas:  Content, Instructional, and Professional.  Participates in faculty and departmental meetings, committees, programs, and other events that promote excellence and growth in the department and school.  Participates in the audition/admissions review process as requested by the Department Chair/Administrator, and demonstrates interest and engagement in student performances and other school-wide activities. Demonstrates excellence in one’s own artistic and academic pursuits.  Represents SCGSAH and the department through active involvement in professional organizations.  Strengthens personnel pursuits and professional ties by participating, exhibiting, performing, and/or making presentations for public groups, districts and schools, parent groups, etc.  Other related duties as may be assigned by the Department Chair or Administration.

DRAMA INSTRUCTOR - THEATRE

WORK SCHEDULE: August 2024, 10-Month Faculty, Permanent Full Time, Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week, may include varying days and/or shifts to meet the school’s Public Safety needs.

LOCATION:  South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, SC

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:  A bachelor’s degree in Theatre or Theatre studies with at least (3) years of teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level. Strong background as a professional and understanding of best practices in theatre. Ability to teach multiple area(s) of actor training and/or technical theatre.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: MFA or Masters in Theatre or Theatre studies or commensurate professional and five (5) years teaching experience in at least two of the following areas of actor training: Stage Combat, Devising, Theatre History, Design, Technical Theatre, Production, Text Analysis, Movement, Directing.  Significant professional activity as a theatre artist.  Demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with public school students who have exceptional artistic potential and achievement, other arts and academic educators, and diverse constituencies and cultures. Experience teaching and administering summer drama programs for middle/high school students. Experience with outreach and curriculum design for k-12 drama teachers and students. Administrative experience such as departmental leadership and/or with recruiting, organizing, leading, representing department and school. The preferred candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as an educator and artist.

SECURITY SPECIALIST III

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:  A high school diploma and experience in fire prevention, safety, or security activities.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of the practices and techniques of safety, security and fire protection.  Ability to act quickly and intelligently in emergency situations. Ability to investigate accidents, disturbances, and violations. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the employees and the general public.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:  Under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety, provides safety and security for the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, including on-campus and school supported activities. Patrols the campus, including parking lot, grounds, buildings, and outside perimeters to ensure safety of students and employees, prevent crime, detect violations of the law, and protect property.  Develops and submits written safety and security reports. Directs visitors and answers questions as necessary. Transmits messages and alarms by electronic equipment in connection with safety prevention and protection programs.  Responds to complaints, reports of violations, and requests for assistance involving on-campus students and employees.  Serves as a first response to requests from students and employees concerning campus trespassers. Following established SCGSAH security protocol, assists in gathering information for preliminary investigations of complaints, including alleged criminal acts.  Documents findings and submits reports. Responds to campus emergencies, providing assistance and directing traffic and/or personnel.  Liaisons with local law enforcement and emergency services personnel when necessary.  Documents incidents and submits any necessary reports for director’s review. Participates in meetings, committees, programs, and other activities. Performs other related duties as required.
