SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Under limited supervision by the Director of Behavioral Health, this position provides counseling and intervention strategies for the students of the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Counsels students on social, emotional, and mental health issues and concerns. Reviews and interprets data on student discipline, absenteeism, grades, and other matters. Seeks and examines trends to identify students needing additional support and guidance. Recognizes and addresses barriers to access mental health services and associated stigma, including cultural and linguistic impediments. Communicates in a regular and timely manner concerning student incidents, problems, and progress. Coordinates conferences amongst involved parties, as necessary. Advocate, collaborate, and coordinate with school and community stakeholders to ensure that students and their families have access to mental health service. Coordinates and leads drug and alcohol abuse intervention programs. Coordinates and leads eating disorder intervention programs. Seeks and implements intervention strategies for students. Provides regular and timely training to members of the school community, including students, parents, and employees, about student mental health needs and intervention strategies. Makes referrals to outside health providers as appropriate. Participates in and assists with committees, programs, meetings, and activities. Modern Dance Instructor

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree (BA or BFA), along with a minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary, post-secondary or professional level. Performance background with a professional modern or contemporary dance company. Advanced knowledge of 20th century modern dance techniques and contemporary dance practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Dance Performance or related dance studies, along with five (5) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level.
Professionally trained modern dance teacher experienced in teaching 20th century modern dance techniques to advanced and pre-professional students. Outstanding performance background with a major modern or contemporary dance company. Extensive knowledge and experience in both staging modern dance repertory and choreographing original dance works.
The preferred candidate will also have demonstrated expertise and ability to teach one or more of the following: contemporary floor work, modern partnering, movement improvisation, movement composition, somatic practices such as Yoga or Pilates, cross-training, dance history, and Aspects of Production.
Excellent communication and writing skills. Demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with public school students who have exceptional artistic potential and achievement, other arts and academic educators, and diverse constituencies and cultures. Experience teaching and administering summer dance programs for middle/high school students. Experience with outreach and curriculum design for K-12 dance teachers and students.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
The instructor will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities to identify and teach South Carolina's artistically talented high school students through programs of pre-professional instruction in an environment of artistic and academic excellence. The successful candidate will also advance the school's Outreach mission by serving as a resource for all teachers and students in South Carolina.
The SCGSAH Dance Department seeks a professionally-trained modern dance teacher with experience teaching advanced modern/contemporary dance technique. The department serves 10th-12th grade students who choose to pursue pre-professional training in either Classical Ballet or Modern & Contemporary Dance. This vibrant, progressive dance program aims to be both formal and forward thinking, blending classical traditions with the moving trends of the 21st century. The program offers students a systematic yet diverse curriculum that is designed to educate and prepare students for entry into the highly fluid and competitive professional dance world.
Therefore, the department seeks a dynamic instructor who will teach intermediate through advanced modern dance technique(s) and related contemporary dance practices; stage existing repertoire and choreograph new works as needed for the department’s demonstrations and performances; coach and prepare students for performances, auditions, and competitions; assist with costume coordination; and advise and mentor students in informal settings and also through formal course structures such as Senior Audition Preparation and Senior Showcase. In their letter of interest, applicants should highlight their areas of expertise from the preferred qualifications above.
In addition to teaching, full-time faculty also participate in faculty meetings, committees, and other events that promote excellence and growth in the department and school. All faculty at SCGSAH organize departmental programming, participate in school wide events, engage with Admissions and Outreach colleagues, and have an opportunity to work in our summer programs. They should participate in auditions and admissions review processes as requested by the Department Chair or Dean, and demonstrate interest and engagement in student performances and other school-wide activities. Faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in continued artistic and academic pursuits. SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: The person in this position will be responsible for performing custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance tasks for the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Perform maintenance and repair tasks for offices, classrooms, dormitory rooms, bathrooms, hallways, practice rooms, the cafeteria, the recital hall, the theatre, and outside structures in such areas as carpentry, masonry, electricity, heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC), and plumbing. Makes recommendations to the supervisor regarding the most cost effective and efficient course of action. Performs routine and preventive maintenance and housekeeping duties and conducts routine inspections of buildings and equipment on a regular basis. Responsible for interior painting. Assists with small building projects. Assists with small motor repairs. Performs various tasks required to accomplish landscaping goals, including loading and unloading, and spreading mulch and top soil; planting or relocating trees, shrubbery, bulbs perennials and annuals; blowing and raking, bagging leaves and frass from lawn and flower beds; watering plants for optimal growth; removing ground debris and pruning/cutting limbs from trees; and mowing flat and incline surfaces. Law Enforcement Officer I - Temp/Full Time

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES: Under the supervision of the Director of Public Safety, performs duties to enforce state, county, and municipal laws, rules, regulations, and school policies for the protection and security of students and employees of the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. Patrols the campus parking lot, grounds, building, and outside perimeter to ensure safety of the students and employees, prevents crime, detects violations of the law, and protects property. Develops and submits written safety reports. Responds to complaints, reports of violations, and requests for assistance involving on-campus students and employees. Serves as a first response to requests from students and employees concerning campus trespassers. Liaisons with local law enforcement when necessary. Following established law enforcement protocol, conducts preliminary investigations of complaints, including alleged criminal acts. Based on investigation results, issues warnings and citations or apprehends and arrests violators of laws and regulations. Documents incidents and submits police report. Collect, maintain and disseminate student data to identify challenges and develop intervention strategies and action plans to ensure student success. Ensure students health and wellness needs are met by developing and implementing student care plans in conjunction with campus colleagues. Develop and implement a student life curriculum and activities to include instructional goals, educational programming, and recreational events. Communicate in a regular and timely manner with the Vice President of Student Affairs and the Assistant Directors, concerning incidents, problems, and progress. Participate in meetings, committees, programs and other activities. Review the conditions of residential life facilities, equipment and supplies. Some of the duties will include preparing materials for classes, assisting in the studios as needed, assisting with communication between visual arts teachers, helping supervise students on field trips and special events, helping with administrative duties, and helping with the gallery installation for the student exhibitions as well as other duties as assigned. The Program Assistant will need to be available on the Friday before the start of the program for a full day of training as well as some or all of the weekends immediately before, during, and after the programs to assist in program opening and closing events, weekend arts activities, and to help with program preparations. SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Summer Visual Arts Instructors teach daily in the Visual Arts Department under the general supervision of the Visual Arts Department Chair during the Summer Programs. The (two) one-week programs for 7th and 8th graders and the (one) two-week program is for 9th grade students. All students during the visual arts summer programs will create work in Drawing, a 2D media and 3D media. Although it may not be the case in each class, across the entire program students will have an introduction to traditional techniques and new technology. Students will also be introduced to using visual language, research, and the context of art and design. Disciplines of potential studio instruction include: Drawing, Printmaking, Photography, Graphic Design, Painting, Sequential Arts, Animation, Ceramics, Metals, Sculpture, and Architecture. Instructors will develop and deliver curriculum, maintain appropriate classrooms / studio(s) during the program, and assist in sourcing and ordering supplies as needed through the Summer Department Chair. Additional duties include: assisting in the assessment of students, occasionally supervising students in evening open studio time, and other duties as requested by the Summer Chair. Instructors will need to be available on some or all of the weekends immediately before, during, and after the program to assist in the program opening and closing events, weekend arts activities, and to prepare the art studios. An MFA with at least 5 years teaching experience in dance at the secondary and/or post-secondary level. Professionally trained Ballet instructor experienced in teaching beginner to advanced level technique to middle/high school aged students. Experience in both staging dance repertory and choreographing, as well as Historical/Character dance experience is needed.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Summer Dance Chair, the Modern Dance Instructor will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities to provide a diverse curriculum and provide a quality dance experience to young students across the state. Instructors will teach beginner to intermediate level modern dance technique, stage or choreograph short work for end of session demonstration, attend weekly dance faculty meetings and fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Director.

Summer Music - Collaborative Piano Adjunct

SALARY RANGE: $45 per hour

WORK SCHEDULE: Temporary Part-Time, approximately 14 hours per week (additional hours may be required, including some nights and weekends).
PROGRAM: 1-week summer program for students grade 7th through 9th (June 14, 2026 – July 10, 2026)

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate arts discipline and/or relevant experience as a teaching artist. Music teaching experience with middle and high school students required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Music teaching experience in both group and private instruction formats preferred. Demonstrated interest and commitment to using diverse resources to present a variety of musical styles and genres in the performance and academic curriculum.

In addition to teaching, instructors are invited to participate in a faculty recital and other department activities. Summer Music Program Assistant

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma and relevant experience in the appropriate art discipline.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Ability to maintain and establish good working relationships with employees and students. College graduate or current college student, preferably with music emphasis. SCGSAH graduate a plus (residential or summer). Level of responsibility and maturity conducive to working with younger students; demonstratable leadership traits and organizational ability.

Under the direction of the Music Department Summer Chair, this position will serve as mentor to students where appropriate regarding classwork, practicing, and general demeanor. Organize all rooms for rehearsals, classes and performances. Assist with student attendance as needed. Support faculty and staff by preparing materials as requested. Monitor required student practice blocks throughout the day as assigned. Coordinate accompanist rehearsals and distribute student music to accompanists. Assist with any extra curricular activities and with closing day presentations. Assist Summer Program Chair as needed.

Summer Drama Musical Theatre Dance Instructor
