Program Fees

The fees listed are for the 2020/21 Residential High School and 2020 Summer programs. For all programs, financial assistance is available to South Carolina residents and no student is denied entrance based on the inability to pay the fees listed.

Residential High School Fees

Application Fee: $50

  • This fee applies to all applications submitted after November 30. 
  • For those in need of financial assistance, the Application Fee Waiver can be submitted instead of this fee.

Tuition: Free 

  • As a public school funded by the state, tuition is free for the Residential High School

Residence Hall Fee: $150

  • This is a non-refundable residence hall fee that is paid upon acceptance to the Governor's School to secure the student's place in the upcoming year's class.

Meal Plan: $3,575

  • This is the annual food services fee paid directly to Aramark Food Services. Payment plans are available on their website. Fees are based on previous year and are subject to change.

Summer Program Fees

Application Fee: $25 for Academy & Summer Dance; no application fee for Arts Odyssey

  • This fee applies to all applications submitted after November 30 for the Academy and Summer Dance programs.

Arts Odyssey Total Cost: $500*

  • Includes a non-refundable residence hall fee of $100 required upon acceptance to reserve the student's place in the program.

Academy Total Cost: $950*

  • Includes a non-refundable residence hall fee of $150 required upon acceptance to reserve the student's place in the program.

Summer Dance Total Cost: $2,100*

  • Includes a non-refundable residence hall fee of $150 required upon acceptance to reserve the student's place in the program.

Financial Assistance

Each year financial assistance is available for qualified families to help cover the costs of the Aramark food service plan for our Residential High School and summer programs. Accepted students for all programs and students who are re-enrolling in the high school are eligible to apply for financial assistance.

To be considered for financial assistance for one of the programs at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities (SCGSAH), you must be a legal resident of South Carolina, and the online financial assistance application, as well as supporting documentation, must be received by the Office of Admissions by Friday, May 1, 2020.

Submit the SCGSAH online Financial Assistance Application

Mail in verification of income or lack of income such as:

  • Current SNAP Verification (food stamps)
  • Copy of student’s Medicaid card (front and back); the prescription card will not be accepted for the purposes of financial assistance 
  • Proof of unemployment
  • Submit the SCGSAH online Financial Assistance Application
  • Mail in the completed and signed copy of the current year (2019) Federal IRS 1040 Tax Form. (Signed front and back of the Federal 1040 tax form only; no schedules needed.) The accepted student must appear as a dependent on the Federal 1040 tax form.
  • Mail in a copy of the current year (2019) W-2 form(s) with income as reported on the Federal 1040 tax form

Financial assistance awards will be distributed in mid-May, and all financial information will remain confidential. Financial assistance applications may be subject to verification by the Financial Assistance Committee at any time.
