Drama Department Summer Supply List 2026
All-Black Clothing
Drama students are expected to adhere to the Drama Department dress code as well as the school’s dress code. We recommend packing at least a week’s worth of all-black clothing; there are laundry machines available in the dorms. T-shirts, sweat pants, and form fitting pieces are best options, though please wear what is comfortable for you. Avoid clothing with logos, images, or text. These should be clothes that offer a range of movement. No jeans or restrictive
clothing.
Black socks are not required.
Cover-Up, Sweater, Hoodie, or Sweatshirt
These must be black and adhere to the departmental and school dress codes. Our studios can sometimes get a bit chilly, so we recommend having an additional layer with you at all times.
Refillable/Sports Water Bottle
Many of our classes are extremely fast-paced and physically demanding; students will need a water bottle to stay comfortable and hydrated. No food or drinks except water are allowed in any of our classroom spaces at any time. Please do not bring water bottles with exposed straws (such as a Stanley).
Closed-Toed Athletic Shoes/Sneakers/Tennis Shoes
Students are only allowed to wear closed-toe shoes/sneakers/tennis shoes in our classroom spaces. These do not have to be black, but should be meant for the purpose of movement, not fashion. Crocs, slides, ballet flats, or slippers are strictly not allowed.
Hair Ties/Rubber Bands/Headbands
Bring whatever you may need to keep hair out of your face, if applicable. In African Dance, anyone with long hair will be required to pull their hair back.
Journal/Notebook
Many of your classes will cover a lot of information quickly; keeping a notebook or journal on you at all times will help you be able to take notes and remember important information.
Pencils
Pencils are required for classwork, though you may use what you like for personal notes.
Two (or more) Different Colored Highlighters
For use highlighting text, notes, or other important information in handouts and scripts.
Recreational Clothing
This clothing is for your downtime (in the dorms, weekends, after class, trips to the grocery store, downtown coffee shops, the movies, etc.).
A Nice Outfit
You may want to bring a nice outfit with you in case you decide to attend music recitals or other arts presentations on campus that request less casual attire.
Bookbag
A bookbag or other means of carrying materials to and from class will help you stay organized and ensure you have all of the materials you need for each class.
Monologue or Short Poem (Memorized)
Please come prepared to share one monologue or short poem as a means of introduction. We will ask you to introduce the title of the play/piece, the playwright/author, and character name, if applicable. This may be, but does not have to be, one of your audition pieces.
Other Considerations
