Betsy J. Beam, MBA

Betsy brings to this role more than twenty-five years of executive management experience that includes:  budget planning, analysis, and forecasting; organizational performance management, strategic planning, change management, process improvement, and grant administration.   Prior to coming to the Governor’s School, Betsy was with the NCDOT Division of Aviation where she served as the Division's Chief Financial Officer, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Division's financial activities with a budget in excess of $150 million.  Betsy was the former Chief Administrative Officer for Baptist Easley Hospital where she was responsible for operations and fiscal budgetary oversight for departments that included:  Organizational Development, Volunteer Services, Foundation, Counseling Center, Communications, Marketing and Public Relations, Community Benefits, Community Services and Wellness, Gift Shop, and Telecommunications.

Betsy has served on numerous State and community boards.  She has also served as a State Judge and State Examiner for both North and South Carolina for the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.  She has provided leadership training, business development, and strategic planning workshops for numerous state and national conferences.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Furman University, and a Master of Business Administration degree and Master of Organizational Psychology and Development from American Intercontinental University.

Betsy recently returned to South Carolina with her husband and now resides in Taylors.
