Carla Quintero has a love for teaching and is passionate about the importance of music and movement in the lives of children and young adults. She has been a certified music educator for nearly 30 years with a diverse background teaching in public, private, and International Baccalaureate schools. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS in Music Education with Honors. She holds certificates in Orff Schulwerk, Health Rhythms and World Music Drumming training, and is currently pursuing a teaching certificate in Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Before moving to Greenville, Carla taught general music at The Lovett School in Atlanta where also she established a successful after school guitar program and directed a Performing Arts Summer camp. Carla was excited to find a West African drumming group here in Greenville to continue her studies and interest in World music and instruments. Her goal in teaching Music for Dancers is to “engage students in authentic music learning to help tune and refine the body as a rhythmic, musical, and artistic instrument.”
