SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Announces Graduating Class of 2025

The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities is proud to present the 25th graduating class who will be honored during a commencement ceremony on Friday, May 23, at Furman University’s McAlister Auditorium.

The 102 students of the Governor’s School’s Class of 2025 represent 23 counties in South Carolina. In addition to earning their SC high school diploma, they will also receive a Scholars Diploma recognizing their completion of pre-professional training in the arts and comprehensive study in the humanities.

This class has earned the following honors:

• 186 awards were earned in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards Region-at-Large competition
• 49 seniors are National Honor Society members
• 35 seniors received medals in the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
• 25 seniors were named Palmetto Fellows
• 14 seniors had works accepted into Artfields, Jr.
• 9 seniors qualified regionally in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Regional competition
• 7 seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts
• 3 seniors were named YoungArts winners
• 1 student is a U.S. Presidential Scholar in the Arts nominee
• 1 student was named a Gates Scholar 

“We are incredibly proud of this graduating class of outstanding artists and scholars,” said Dr. Cedric Adderley, school president. “This has been an extra special year, as we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the opening of our high school in 1999. This exemplary class truly embraced their Govie experience and embodied the spirit of creativity, collaboration, innovation, and community that defines our school. We look forward to seeing how they will continue the Governor's School’s legacy.”
