Across our five art areas and multiple programs, the Governor's School offers lifetime opportunities for South Carolina's young artists. Whether interested in our tuition-free residential high school program or our arts-intensive summer programs, students gain transformative experiences and foundational skills. All of our programs lead students to become valuable members of the nationwide network of Govie alumni. It is the arts education and vast alumni network that helps students pursue their passion and live their dreams.

6th Grade Students

Students in the 6th grade can apply for this program.

Summer Dance Program

This intensive summer program offers rising 7th-12th-grade students (who apply during their 6th-11th grade school year) pre-professional training in classical ballet with a modern/contemporary dance component. Students must be 12-years-old by June 1, 2021 to attend. Learn more about our Summer Dance Program

7th Grade Students

Students in the 7th grade can apply for these programs.

Arts Odyssey Program

This one-week summer program for rising 8th and 9th-grade students, who apply in the 7th or 8th grade, offers an intensive arts exploration in Creative Writing, Drama, Music, or Visual Arts.

Summer Dance Program

This intensive summer program offers rising 7th-12th-grade students (who apply during their 6th-11th grade school year) pre-professional training in classical ballet with a modern/contemporary dance component. Students must be 12-years-old by June 1, 2021 to attend. Learn more about our Summer Dance Program.

 

8th Grade Students

Students in the 8th grade can apply for these programs.

Arts Odyssey Program

9th Grade Students

Students in the 9th grade can apply for these programs.

Academy Program

This two-week summer program is for rising 10th grade students who desire intensive training in Creative Writing, Drama, Music, or Visual Arts. The curriculum incorporates studio work, self-directed studies, performance, field trips, lectures, and presentations by faculty and guest artists.

Summer Dance Program

This intensive summer program offers rising 7th-12th-grade students (who apply during their 6th-11th grade school year) pre-professional training in classical ballet with a modern/contemporary dance component. Residential High School - Dance and Music

The Residential High School Dance Department offers a three-year program that accepts 10th-grade students who apply in the 9th grade. Learn more about the high school Dance program.

The Music Department accepts especially talented and mature 9th-grade students for the 10th grade Instrumental Early Admission (IEA) program. Learn more about our high school Music program.

10th Grade Students

Students in the 10th grade can apply for these programs.

Residential High School

The Residential High School serves juniors and seniors, as well as sophomores in Music and Dance, providing pre-professional arts training along with a nationally-recognized high school education. Learn more about our high school Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Music, and Visual Arts programs.
