Summer Program Positions

SUMMER DANCE IMMERSION ACTING FOR DANCERS INSTRUCTOR

OPENING DATE:  February 27, 2024                  CLOSING DATE:  March 27, 2024

STATE POSITION NUMBER:  Temporary- Part Time    

SALARY RANGE: Based on enrollment/course load    BAND and LEVEL:  UZ01

WORK SCHEDULE: Temporary Part-Time, Monday Through Saturday, approximately 5-10 hours per week (additional hours may be required, including some nights and weekends).

PROGRAM: Dance Immersion: June 16, 2024 – June 28, 2024 & July 7, 2024 – July 19, 2024;

LOCATION: South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, South Carolina

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s Degree in the appropriate arts discipline with at least 3 years of relevant experience as a teaching artist.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
An MFA with at least 5 years teaching experience in acting at the secondary and/or post-secondary level. Professionally trained acting teacher experienced in beginner level acting to middle school aged students.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:    
Must have demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with artistically talented students, other arts educators and diverse constituencies and cultures.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:  
Under the general supervision of the Immersion Dance Director, the Acting for Dancers Instructor will advance the mission of the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities to provide a diverse curriculum and provide a diverse curriculum and provide a quality dance experience to young students across the state. Instructors will teach beginner level acting and prepare a piece to be performed at the end of session demonstration, attend dance faculty meetings, attend demonstration week rehearsals, participate in student evaluations and fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Director.

SUMMER ALUMNI OFFICE PROGRAM ASSISTANT

OPENING DATE:  February 13, 2024                 CLOSING DATE:  March 13, 2024

STATE POSITION NUMBER:  Temporary- Part Time    

SALARY RANGE: $2,000.00                            BAND and LEVEL:  UZ01-00

WORK SCHEDULE: Temporary Part-Time, Monday through Friday approximately 30 hours per week (additional hours may be required, including some nights and weekends).  

PROGRAM: Program Assistant Training (6/14/2024); and 5-week summer program for students grade 6th through 11th (June 16, 2024 – July 19, 2024)

LOCATION: South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, South Carolina

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of one full year of college, university, or conservatory is required.  A valid driver’s license is required. Demonstrate appropriate maturity to work with high school students.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  
Experience with students in a camp or residential environment is preferred.  Preference may be given to applicants who are 21 years of age and with additional educational or work experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:    
Must have demonstrated knowledge and interpersonal skills to work with artistically talented students, other arts educators and diverse constituencies and cultures. Must be available to work the duration of 2024 summer program. Must be willing to participate in first aid and driver’s training.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:  
The role of the summer programs assistant is to provide daily administrative and office support to the Alumni and Summer Programs Office.  This position reports to the Alumni and Summer Programs Coordinator but interacts with a wide range of staff, faculty, students, alumni and campus leaders. The ability to work on multiple projects while on a fast paced schedule is essential. 

Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
•    Receiving and directing visitors on the opening and closing day of each program (June 16, 22nd, 23rd, 29th and July 7th, 12th, 19th)
•    Taking candid photos of students for publication on website
•    Program certificate preparation
•    Serving as a chaperone for off campus trips
•    Assisting with communications to parents
•    Fielding telephone calls
•    Social media postings
•    Special alumni projects

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
The Summer programs assistant may request housing in the residence hall if space is available.  Staff who live in the residence hall will be eligible for a meal plan to cover all meals while programs are in session.  If the assistant chooses not to stay on campus, a meal plan will not be part of their compensation.
