The Visual Arts Department is proud to present "Existing Now," an exhibition of artwork by Marty Epp-Carter and Elaine Quave. This show explores the complexity of the human experience and serves as a celebration of the Governor’s School Visual Arts Department, bringing together work by Epp-Carter, a former instructor, and Quave, an alumna turned current faculty member. Each work is a metaphor for the artists’ lives, an accumulation of both personal experience and collective knowledge. From the infinitesimal world of atoms and cells to the vastness of galaxies and cosmic space, our technical innovations and collective knowledge expand the limitations

Watch and learn from our amazing guest soloists as they work with talented and committed high school and college music students one-on-one in front of an audience of their peers and interested adults. Masterclasses are held at Smith Recital Hall, SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities. RANDALL UMSTEAD, tenor, has performed widely in both operatic roles and in concert music. He has performed the title role in Britten's Albert Herring, the Doctor in Dominick Argento's The Voyage of Edgar Allan Poe, the Lecturer in Argento's one-man monodrama A Water Bird Talk, as well as Lurcanio in Handel's Ariodante

Visual Arts Alumni Guest Artist Panel

Visual Arts Department alumni Lainey Davidson ('17), Kevin Hopkins ('18), and Benjamin Merritt ('15) will return to campus for a special guest panel in honor of the school's 25th Anniversary! They will share reflections on their experience as artists both during and after their time at the Governor's School, answer audience questions, and more! This event is free and open to the public. Lainey Davidson is an artist, sculptor, and filmmaker. She graduated from the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in 2017 with a concentration in animation. Her film, ‘Zero’, won Best Student Film at Austin

Experience an evening of musical brilliance at the inaugural Prism Concert, where the diverse talents of the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities students will shine. Named after the prism that reveals the spectrum of light, this concert showcases the multifaceted world of musical performance through a vibrant array of ensembles and soloists. Experience the rich sound of our large ensembles, including the Concertato String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Cantus Chamber Choir. In addition, enjoy a variety of smaller ensembles and solo performances, creating a seamless tapestry of musical colors. Celebrating 25 years of excellence in arts education

Our SCGSAH music students will perform during our student recital, and we invite you to join us! This event is free and open to the public. Join us on campus or live on YouTube. For our daytime events, guests should check in at the Visitor's Center (located at the front of campus) 10 minutes before the event starts. Once checked in, you will be escorted to the venue by a student representative.
