An active advocate for arts education statewide, Carol joined the Governor's School in 2012 after working for nine years with Richland County School District One in the visual and performing arts programs. She holds her M.A. from New York University through the Gallatin School for Individualized Study, where she focused her interdisciplinary work on process drama, the management of teaching artist programs, and arts integration for high poverty settings. A regular presenter on arts education leadership at the state and national level, she is a former Chair of the Board of Directors for Palmetto State Arts Education (PSAE), a founding member and past President of the Board of Directors for Columbia Children's Theatre, and member of the SC Arts Education Advisory Council.
When asked the best part of her job, she is quick to answer, “Spending time with arts teachers and students from across the state—engaging in their communities and the creative endeavors that help nurture South Carolina’s emerging artists. It's inspiring.”
