Izzy Bernard is a third year senior from Aiken, SC. She danced at Dream Dance Academy and attended Aiken High School before coming to the Governor’s School. Maggie Darden lives in Murrells Inlet, SC, and will be attending the University of South Carolina in the fall for Dance Education. As one of the Senior Class facilitators, Maggie has always had a passion for teaching and helping others. She has taught dance to many young children and attended many peer to peer mentor programs in hopes of being a good mentor and role model for young girls. She was also a part of the feminist club and was a teachers assistant at Waccamaw High School.

Ava Grebe was born in Towson, Maryland. She began taking ballet classes at the age of three. In 2013, her family moved to South Carolina. She was introduced to the Governor's School through summer programs and soon attended as a sophomore student. Tymetrias loved being an active member of the Multicultural Club, helping organize events and spreading awareness of different cultures. Marshall Peace is from Greenville, SC. Attending boarding school in the same town where he grew up had its advantages and disadvantages, but at least he never had to pay for laundry. As a Govie, Marshall was president of the International Relations Club, an officer in the National Honor Society, and voted "Most Likely to be Found in the Library" (the coolest superlative). He is undecided on his college plans, but was accepted to Boston University, American University, SMU, and Bennington College, among others. He cannot thank SCGSAH enough for all it has given him. He’s made the best friends anyone could ask for, developed a clear path for his future, and learned what it truly means to be an artist. These have been the most exhausting, rewarding, and joyful 1.75 school years of his life.

Victor Sherman was raised in Mount Pleasant, SC, and he has had a love for acting since the end of his fourth-grade year. That's when he started taking acting classes at the local theatre company. Victor decided to continue training in acting at the Arts School in Charleston. He spent five years there, before leaving to attend the Governor's School. Not only did he focus strongly on his art form while there, but he also served as a Student Ambassador during his senior year. Mia Bailey is a violist from Easley, SC. Her viola studies began in 2012 when she chosen to join the orchestra program in elementary school. Since then, Mia has been involved in the SC Music Educators Association All County, Region, and State orchestras. In June and July of 2019, she was a participant of the Sewanee Summer Music Festival where she was the principal violist of the high school orchestra under Maestra Janna Hymes. Today, Mia is a graduate of SCGSAH where she studied with Katie Dey. Later this fall, she plans to attend the University of South Carolina to continue her viola studies and major in music education with an emphasis on strings.

Xia Bowens is a 17-year-old native of Greenville, SC. Currently, she is a senior at the Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities where she studies Classical Saxophone. She is a member of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, and Chamber groups. Xia was also a part of the Multi-Cultural Club, C.A.T.S club and many other on-campus activities. While at the Governor’s School, Xia debuted, Xia Shari Music, her Music business. She was employed at Greenwood High School to serve the Front/Battery instructor for the 2018-19 season. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Benjamin Brooks will be attending East Carolina University this fall, studying Violin Performance under Ara Gregorian and Hye-Jin Kim. Benjamin fell in love with music at an early age, and SCGSAH has allowed him to discover the power and beauty of art as a way of life. He has been privileged the opportunity to explore violin among the world's greatest musicians. Concertmaster of Greenville County's Young Artist Orchestra, Benjamin has attended many festivals over the years, including Indiana University's Summer String Academy under renowned pedagogue, Mimi Zweig, Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival, David Kim's Orchestral Institute, among others. Despite moving a lot, music always helped her feel at home and gave her a sense of community. Violet plans to attend Covenant College in Chattanooga this fall. In addition to solo playing, Emma has participated in many ensembles, including Concertato String Orchestra, Governor’s School Choir, Senior Dance Showcase, and Artists in Bloom. On campus, she is an NHS officer, a Student Ambassador, and is actively involved in CATS. She also serves on Student Council as the 2nd floor Hall Executive and co-hosts a weekly girls bible study. Bryan Fields, hailing from Myrtle Beach, began playing piano at the age of ten. He is a former student of Renee Jackson and Linda Gebelein and currently studies with Dr. Stephen Taylor at SCGSAH. He is an avid supporter of not only classical music, but also jazz, and plays in the jazz orchestra. He has had an active experience at SCGSAH, participating in multiple competitions and ensembles, and visiting other regions in South Carolina for master classes. Around that time he grew interested in composing and arranging and has since composed for groups of percussion and/or flamenco guitar. Sabrina Mao is from Rock Hill, South Carolina and has been studying the piano for 10 years. Before studying with Stephen Taylor and Kristen Ironside, she was taking piano lessons from Anne Herlong and Lannia Broñola-dickert at Winthrop University. She’s participated in multiple Honors Recitals as a part of Winthrop’s Junior Piano Festival Competition and received first place in 2013. For the last three years she’s been studying piano at SCGSAH and collaborating with the music department in their chamber and choral concerts. Outside of practicing piano, Sabrina enjoys going on coffee and boba tea dates with her friends. After high school, Sabrina plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Cognitive Science with a minor in Music at the University of California at San Diego. Oboist Sydney Stevens is from Moore, SC. At the Governor’s School, she studied with Petrea Warneck and was a member of the Wind Ensemble, Sinfonia Orchestra, and woodwind trio. She originally began studying oboe in 2011 under the direction of Dr. Kelly Vaneman. Before coming to the Governor’s School, she went to James F. Byrnes Highschool. While attending Byrnes, Sydney participated in the marching and honors symphonic bands and participated in the South Carolina region band. In 2017, she became a drum major for the Rebel Regiment marching band and participated in the Converse College wind ensemble. Sydney plans to attend Converse College for music therapy in the fall of 2020.

Hunter Sweatt was born in Albermarle, NC. His music career began in 6th grade when he joined the drum line. He attended the Residential Summer Academy at SCGSAH and knew he had a flair for classical music. Hunter plays ukulele in his off time. In the fall, he plans to attend the University of South Carolina and pursue a bachelors degree in Geological Sciences. After college, he plans to attend graduate school and have private percussion lessons in his home.

Vocalist Amos Wise, IV, is a native from North, SC. He attended SCGSAH in 2019 as a first year senior and will begin his undergraduate studies this fall at Coastal Carolina University, with a major in Music Studies. Amos has been performing with his gift of song since the age of three. He is a former student of Christopher Gladman and currently studies with Thomas Dickinson, Landon Baumgard, Walter Hundt, and David Rhyne. Amos writes and performs original material as well as classical, Gospel, Latin, German and contemporary pieces. During his tenure at SCGSAH, Amos discovered his love for dance and theatre and was placed into a second-year dance class. Amos plans to pursue his dreams in Musical Theatre Performance while also quenching his thirst for his passion in Entertainment Law. Amos feels the Governor's School was the "open door" that faith helped walk him through and from the school, he takes away many life lessons and memories.

James Wong is from Florence, SC and was a Governor's School Student Ambassador. James started studying music at the age of 4 with the violin, and picked up singing at the age of 10 with his school choir. James was a part of the TTBB All-State choir in 2018. He has been in multiple productions with his community theatre, Florence Little Theatre, and his favorite production has been Legally Blonde. He will be attending the University of Utah for a BFA in Musical Theatre and plans on being a Broadway performer.

Hope Zinkann is a senior violin student of Mrs. Deirdre Hutton at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities. She has performed in many ensembles in her 10 years of playing including the Greenville County Youth Orchestra where she was Concertmistress from 2014-2018. Hope has also performed in Habitat for Humanities Annual Ruby Slipper Event since she was 11 years old. She loves to travel and her dream is to perform on cruise ships while traveling the world. She is going to major in music education in the coming school year and will eventually start her own violin studio.

Fred Gause lives in Marion, SC, where he began developing his artistic skills when he was 10 in a local play, "A Christmas Carol." When Fred was 12, he co-starred with his brother in the first movie filmed in his hometown called the "12 Dog Days of Christmas." Fred was on the academic challenge team his 10th grade year and a member of the National Beta Club for many years until he got accepted into the SC Governor School of Arts and Humanities as a visual artist. While at the Governor School he was elected the Hall Executive, served on the Student Council, and was a member of the film club. He plans to attend the University of South Carolina to pursue a degree in Marketing and Fine Arts.

John Christopher Wright II currently resides in North Charleston, SC, however, he will be relocating to Illinois with his family upon graduation. His gift and passion for visual art were discovered by his parents at the age of three. Since then, John has participated in several art classes and/or programs and has won numerous awards and recognitions. While at the Governor’s School, John honed his craft of drawing but also developed a great enthusiasm for painting, animation, and filmmaking. As a result, most of his time was spent creating animations in the animation room or watching movies as a member of the Film Club. His future plan is to attend the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and major in Animation/Filmmaking
