Creative Writing and Mindfulness

Project Description

Heather Marshall PhotoMindfulness is present-moment awareness of thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations or the surrounding environment. The benefits of mindfulness include better focus and concentration, increased learning readiness, and greater compassion. Mindful writing combines the practice of mindfulness with creative writing to increase engagement and improve writing skills.

In this two part session, providers will participate in a Professional Learning Opportunity that will  guide providers through a mindfulness practice and a mindful writing experience. Providers will also learn techniques to bring this practice to their students. Upon successful completion, providers can then sign up for a mindfulness and writing workshop prepared directly for students.
