The Governor’s School offers a free, virtual two-day summer retreat for English teachers.

The retreat offers a number of virtual creative writing sessions with practicing, published writers who are long-time faculty members at the S.C. Governor’s School for the Arts & Humanities.

Participants will: 

  • Learn successful workshop strategies to effectively incorporate creative writing into the ELA classroom.
  • Develop useful writing prompts.
  • Find out about new reading selections.
  • Receive a professional development certificate upon successful completion

Participants will need internet access and microphone/camera capacity.

Designed by professional, practicing writers, the Creative Writing Program offers young writer the opportunity to learn the value of craft, concentrating on sound writing techniques in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and screenwriting.
