First Citizens Invests in South Carolina's Young Artists

First Citizens Bank and First Citizens Wealth Management are donating $20,000 in support of the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities over the next two years. This multi-year gift showcases the strong partnership between the two organizations and the importance First Citizens places on arts education in South Carolina.

First Citizens has supported the Governor’s School for over 20 years, contributing more than $100,000 in the last five years. These donations have provided financial support to the school’s students, funded professional development in under-resourced counties across the state, and helped bring guest artists to the school for master classes.

“First Citizens is delighted to continue our partnership with the Governor’s School,” said Erin McCaskill, senior vice president and wealth consultant with First Citizens Wealth Management. “We believe the arts are extremely important; they enrich our lives and help us learn more about the world and our history. The mission of the Governor’s School reflects our Forever First commitment to our community.”

“We are very grateful for the ongoing support from First Citizens. Thanks to this generous donation, cost will not be a factor for more passionate young artists wanting to pursue their dreams at the Governor’s School,” said Dr. Cedric Adderley, school president. “We are now much better equipped to provide valuable guest artist experiences for our learning community and additional outreach opportunities throughout the state.”
