The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities Foundation was recently recognized as the “August Small Business of the Month” by the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, an honor bestowed on extraordinary businesses and organizations in the upstate.

Since 1984, the Governor’s School Foundation has raised public and private donations that support South Carolina’s young artists and fuel the Governor’s School’s mission to serve artistically talented students through pre-professional instruction while also serving as a resource for all students and teachers in the state.

Whether students attend the Governor’s School’s residential high school or summer programs, the foundation helps to provide the resources and support they need to pursue their artistic passion and future careers. This is done by improving access for students who need financial assistance, investing in the school’s efforts to provide arts education in underserved counties, and funding special initiatives, such as the guest artist program that brings nationally renowned artists to Greenville to teach master classes and more.

“Thank you to the Greenville Chamber for this honor and to our community supporters, without whom we would not be able to do this important work across the state,” said Rochelle Williams, executive director of the Governor’s School Foundation.
