Ensemble Immersion Workshops

Band Immersion Workshop: June 18-23
Piano Immersion Workshop: June 18-23 / June 25-30
Strings Immersion Workshop: June 18-23
Voice Immersion Workshop: June 18-23 /  June 25-30

Band, piano, strings, and voice students will participate in one-week workshops for their ensemble to further develop their performance, theory, and instrumental or vocal skills. These immersive workshops will prepare students to take their ensemble playing to the next level by building their technical and musical skills.

Applicants are required to submit a video audition to the application portal.

Solo Intensives

June 25-30

These intensive workshops, offered for advanced woodwinds, brass, and strings students, are designed to give students a deep dive into their instrument and help them develop as a solo performer. Students will participate in daily private lessons, performance master classes, and technique drill classes. Additionally, they will take Singing 101, Keyboard Basics, and a participate in Solo Showcase Recital. 

Additional courses and components may include: Stage Skills Class, Mentor Chamber Ensemble with coaching by faculty, Guest Artists Alumni Residency, and Audition and Recording Basics.

Jazz & Improvisation

June 25-30

This course offers young musicians an opportunity to explore jazz and improvisation. Students will gain experience in jazz basics, improvisation, studio ensembles, transcribing, and music technology.

Additional courses may include: African Drumming, Jazz Theory, Listening Lab, and Keyboard Basics or Advanced Keyboard

Songwriting & Composition

June 25-30

Young songwriters and composers will have opportunities to write and share their compositions with like-minded musicians. Students will gain experience in writing, arranging, composing, theory, and music technology.

Additional courses may include: Creative Writing Essentials, Song Seminar, Keyboard Basics or Advanced Keyboard, and a Film Composition Final Project

How To Apply

Students apply in 7th & 8th grade to attend in the summers following 7th & 8th grade. An online application process, which includes demographic and arts information, must be completed to be considered for admission. The online application portal will be used to request recommendations and upload other required materials.
